Some points on Nukiiiitsuuuuuke

One of the things that's easy to forget is nukitsuke. As much as we stress the two hand cuts in our style, in kata the most important cut is nukitsuke. The nukitsuke is just as much setting up your opponent, as it is about just cutting him. You can manipulate him, you can put him off balance, and most of all, it puts you in a safe position to do anything. Whether that's to do the finishing cut, or to just run.

In nukitsuke, of course there is the cut, but the things leading up to the nukitsuke, such as sighting the enemy, getting proper footwork and hands in place to react, is the things I like to stress the most.

So when practicing kata, nukitsuke needs love too.
