Adventures of Byakkokan Dojo in NYC

To start off, our Thursday class was no different from our typical classes.  We practiced kata, Sang-sensei brought in a new tool for the dojo which Kyle, Vincent and I managed to try out, and then we ended class earlier than usual.....

Happy Birthday, Kyle!

Unfortunately, this is where it all started to go wrong...  Our hopes of feasting upon the sacrifice of many hundreds of baby chicks were torn to shreds when we discovered that Blondies was completely full.  How else were we supposed to celebrate the birth of Kyle?  One would have thought that we could have made reservations to deter such an event from ever occurring.  We were too hopeful.  Gone are the days when Blondies was just another one of those unknown Sports Bars out of the many hundreds the riddled the streets of New York City.  Now, we actually have to make reservations ahead of time in order to savor the succulent juices of those Hot/BBQ/HoneyBBQ Wings and the Wafers Fries that are just oh so delicious.

We needed to find another place where we could find refuge, a place to sate our ever growing hunger after a session of our class.  Swinging Bubba around expends quite a bit of energy, you know?  First thought that came to mind was Chinese-Mexican.  After a bit of arguing, we decided on Dinosaur BBQ.  Again, our hopes were shattered by the knowledge we had obtained through the modern advancements in Cellular Telecommunications.  Using our ingenuity, we found out the phone number of Dino BBQ through Google Maps only to discover that they had already closed for the day.  The next place?  Closed as well.  Woe are we.  What were we to do from here on out?

At that moment, Kyle spoke.  He would lead us to our salvation, the salvation that would be Flor de Mayo!

Long story short...we drove to Amsterdam & 83rd St.  We found parking very easily since street parking started at 10PM all over that area.  Jumped right in to find that they were ready and willing to accept the hopeful, starving and suffering poor souls that we were.  We had indeed found what would lead us to salvation that night.  It was a salvation that would lead us to filling our bellies with delicious meats that were chicken, beef and pork.  Not in that order.  Oh, let's not forget the shrimp, too!  That red whatever sauce was freakin' great!  To top it all off, Amy had made Domo-kun cupcakes for everyone as well!  Maybe someone would be so kind enough to post a picture of one of those cupcakes on here...

That was the adventure we had that night...  ...and I'm sure there will be many more to come in this year of 2010.
