who - Dan, Henry, Ron

rolled 16 tatami

Worked on Group kata
a) remember to go with the pace of the group
b) don't look at the person next to you. You should know the kata well enough you don't have to use someone else as reference
c) if you mess up, don't show it. Keep going

Worked on Regular kata
Ron - Had trouble with kata 4, 6, and 7 of the Toyama set
Kata 4 -
a) when you step over the right foot, remember to step over far enough that when you turn around you should be in a nice steady iai goshi
b) don't step back until you're ready to cut, if you step too soon, you leave the engagement distance
c) watch that pinky sticking out before you cut
Kata 6 -
a) when you start drawing, your focus should be on the opponent in front of you
b) use your head to turn the body after the first kesa
Kata 7 -
a) first step is used to eye the opponent, second step you draw and step under the sword for the one handed cut
b) look first before you cut!!!

Dan - it's good to cut big, but jodan should be at 45degrees instead of flat.
Chuden sei tei kata - for kata 8 remember to look before you get ready for the second tsuki

Henry - same as Dan, look before you tsuki, also remember to pull the sword out of the opponent before moving onto to the next one.

Kumitachi - please don't kill each other....

Afterwards we set up some dry tatami and did a cutting exercise for Toyama Kata 5. Smoothness is more important then speed.

Ron paid 100 dollars
