Who - Dan, Henry, Ron, Andy
Dan worked with Ron on Chuden seitei kata 1-4
*notes to come from Dan*
a) remember that the first three steps into nukitsuke are supposed to be a smooth transition rather than step by step by step then draw
b) Nice big cuts....from the hips
c) remember that there is no step on the seigan for kata 2
d) kata 4 order goes like this...gyaku nukitsuke, chudan, gedan
I worked with Andy on kihon
Iai goshi -
a) Nice shoulder width stance
b) without a good stance, everything else is meaningless
c) grab the floor with your toes....all your weight should be in your lower body
d) shoulders back, chin back
e) nice smoooooth transition
f) when you go into iaigoshi, your right hand should not be on the tsuka
g) back leg is straight, with the heel of your back leg being about 1/2 an inch off the floor
Batto -
a) when you pop the koiguchi, make sure the right hand is on the tsuka
b) push from the elbow not pull
c) draw straight out, and when you pull the sword....do sayabiki. The height of you hand should not move up or down
Stance (chudan) -
a) your left hand is a fist and a half away from your belly button
b) kissaki is throat high
c) relax your arms and shoulders
Chiburi -
a) right hand height should be between the shoulder and hips
b) kissaki should be along the line of your front foot
c) nice strong snappy movement
Noto -
a) keep your hand the same height, should not go up or down too much
b) if the sword is too long, use saya biki
c) the saya comes to the sword, not the sword to the saya
d) if you mess up noto, do not move the kissaki back towards your arm again, instead drop the point, perform chiburi and start over
Also made Andy work on how to walk properly in iaigoshi
